Ray Allen- no more a Sonic :(

Not that Seattle Sonics were doing terrific by even the least standards, but it's a big shock seeing Sonics trade Ray Allen to Boston. Using their No. 2 draft pick Sonics chose Kevin Durant, possibly franchise forward for coming years. But then minutes later they trade Ray Allen, their current franchise player and fan favorite. What's with that? With the resulting no. 5 pick, they picked another talented forward Jeff Green.

It's possible they're rebuilding the team for years to come, but then next season is going to suck...

What has the Indian cricket come to...

It is really devastating to see India lose to Bangladesh in the manner that they did. In all my discussions with my friends in weeks leading upto the world cup, we have though that India vs Sri Lanka match will be the first significant match for our team.

Who knew that that match will be as important as WC final for India!!!

Cricket world cup...

Now that the NFL season has ended, I suddenly realize that Sunday is not that short after all and there is enough free time to do something new. Having Seahawks exchange the first round draft choice to New England Patriots for Deon Branch, the re is very little to to look forward to in this March's NFL draft.

It doesn't help much that another professional sports club from Seattle, NBA team Sonics, are happy to be in the bottom ten throughout the season. Only good thing for the team is that Ray Allen is going to play this weekend in the All-Stars game on Sunday in Vegas(he is averaging about 27 points per game).

That leaves only one more sport that I can look forward to is the cricket world cup on the horizon. It is still 20 days away but the hype is picking up and I hope it is worth the wait and something I can talk and write about. I'll try and scribble my thoughts till the end of the World Cup :)

Divisional Championships

Lots of poeple across the nation picked their own teams for Divisional playoffs weekend. While some seemed rational, others seemed absurd. Anyways, I have a right to pick and here are my picks:

1. Eagles(10-6) at Saints(10-6)
Saints is now the new America's team. Okay, people calm down. Their record is 10-6. They have Drew Brees, and R. Bush. But, look at their schedule. Their victories came against Browns, Packers, Falcons, bucs, eagles, bucs, falcons, sfo, cowboys, giants. Can somebody tell me which of those teams have a winning record? Just the Eagles and Cowboys. I think looking at Saints' record is enough to realize what they really are. Not a super-duper team for sure!
Coming to Eagles, they have a 10-6 record too, and have similar victories. I think it will be a good game.

My pick: Eagles.

2. Pats(12-4) at Chargers (14-2)

It will be a good game.

My pick: Pats

3. Colts(12-4) at Ravens(13-3)
Enough has been said about Colts poor performance in play-offs, but I think this time they're aready. They will edge Ravens in a close encounter like the one they beat defense-centric Bronocos.

My pick: Colts

4. Seahawks(9-7) at Bears (13-3)
As much I would love to see Seahawks play well and win I agree as much that they didn't play too well this season, thanks to uncountable number of injuries.
Let me move on to the Bears now. I don't understand why people don't acknowledge that NFC north(Bears, Viks, Packers, Lions) is the worst division in NFC. At least, I do :). Only team with a winning record that Chicago beat is Seattle. I don't want to write much now. Keeping fingers crossed.

My pick: MY TEAM.
